For thousands of years, Indigenous communities managed and moved throughout
these landscapes seasonally. Communities traveled between valley floors, alpine regions, desert springs,
and mountain passes following water, weather, trade routes, and food sources throughout the year.
Modern recreation areas throughout Inyo County remain culturally important landscapes today.
