Visit Inyo is a program of the
Inyo Chamber of Commerce.

Visit Inyo exists to help visitors experience these places responsibly while supporting the communities that call them home.
We believe great travel begins with understanding a place. That means celebrating the history, culture, and people that have shaped Inyo County for generations. It means encouraging stewardship of public lands, respecting local communities, and helping visitors recreate responsibly so these landscapes remain special for future generations.

INDGENOUS HERITAGE

Inyo County exists on the ancestral homelands of the Nüümü (Paiute), Newe (Shoshone), and other Indigenous peoples who have stewarded these landscapes for thousands of years.

Visit Inyo is committed to respectfully representing Indigenous history, culture, place names, and perspectives into destination storytelling whenever appropriate. We seek to build relationships with Tribal governments and cultural leaders to help ensure accurate and respectful representation.

REPRESENTATION & INCLUSION

Visit Inyo represents communities throughout Inyo County, including Death Valley, Lone Pine, Independence, Big Pine, and Bishop.

We believe every community deserves a seat at the table and a meaningful role in shaping how Inyo County is represented.

Marketing efforts should reflect the diversity of landscapes, cultures, businesses, and experiences found throughout the county, ensuring no single destination defines Inyo County as a whole.

To support this goal, Visit Inyo maintains a community advisory structure that includes business and community stakeholders from across the county.

RESPONSIBLE RECREATION

Protecting the places that attract visitors is essential to the future of tourism in Inyo County.

Visit Inyo supports responsible recreation through visitor education, stewardship messaging, safety information, and promotion of Leave No Trace principles. We believe tourism marketing should help visitors understand not only where to go, but how to recreate responsibly once they arrive.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

All Visit Inyo campaigns, content, partnerships, and marketing initiatives are evaluated against four core principles:

  1. Respect Indigenous heritage and culture
  2. Promote responsible recreation and stewardship
  3. Support local communities and businesses
  4. Represent Inyo County as a whole

Before launching any campaign, partnership, advertisement, or major initiative, we ask: Does this effort support local communities, promote responsible recreation, respect Indigenous heritage, and represent Inyo County as a whole?

PARTNERSHIPS

Visit Inyo works collaboratively with local businesses, chambers of commerce, tourism organizations, public land agencies, Tribal partners, community groups, and stewardship organizations to support a sustainable future for tourism throughout Inyo County.

Together, we can ensure that the places we love remain healthy, accessible, and welcoming for future generations.
